 LIVE FILL-IN, TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT, TOURING

Freelance history & stats

My professional freelance drumming career began in 1999 working with bands/artists as a full member, one-off fill in, & temporary (multiple shows) replacement. Since then, I've played close to 2,000 shows touring many parts of the eastern United States, including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, New York, West Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, Florida, Washington, California, Virginia, & South Carolina. Experienced all types of shows including major venues (10,000 capacity), live radio (200,000 average daily listeners), Woodstock 50th @ Yasgur Farm, corporate events, special events, weddings, wedding vow renewal ceremonies, baseball games, clubs, bars, breweries, amusement parks, maximum security prisons, private parties, airports, parades, marathons, regattas, Air BNB's, coffee shops, flea markets, dairy farms, car shows, yard sales, ect.

Opened or shared the bill with world renowned, national, and regional acts including The Wailers, Jefferson Starship, The Vogues, George Clinton, Tab Boneit, Leftover Salmon, The Fixx, Bubba Sparxxx, Jazz Mandolin Project, Method Man & Redman, Melvin Seals & JGB, Trina Hamlin, Skerik, BIig Smo, The Step Kings, Less Than Jake, Shemekia Copeland, Kate Tempest, Travers Brothership, Yarn, Old Southern Moonshine Revival, The Clarks, Joe Grushecky & The House Rockers, Jim Donovan & Sun King Warriors, among others.

Member of the Pittsburgh Musician's Union since 2004.

I am currently working regularly with Derek Woods Band, Trio 724, Cromer's Band, The New Mingle, Dave York, Whiskey Limerick, among others, keeping a consistently steady live schedule year round averaging 150 shows per year.

INSTRUMENTS:

Primary: Drum Set

Secondary: Percussion including Shakers, Tamborine, Djembe, Ashiko, Conga, Bongo, Doumbek, Darbuka, Cajon, Timbale, Cowbells, Slit Drum, Buffalo Drum, Udu, Claves, Frame Drum, Bodhran, Tabla, Timpani, Mallet Percussion, Steel Pan, Spoons.

"I've been fortunate to play with Chris for over 10 years in several different bands, in the studio, and all kinds of live performances. He has always been prepared and consistent with his playing in any situation or setting.

For as long as I've known him, Chris has been an ego-free, fun to play with, total-pro, human metronome.

He's got the chops, but he lets his skills serve the song-which is the most important thing.

If Chris isn't playing drums, then he is most likely teaching, watching, listening, reading, tuning, cleaning or practicing them. With Chris, life is, to quote Animal, drums!"

-Matt Calvetti, The New Mingle / Ouve, among others.

"I've been playing with Chris for many years and it's a constant source of enjoyment. Sometimes I will try and screw him up, and I will flip the beat a little bit, but he will catch it and bring me back...boom...and look at me like...hey man..it goes like this! Without a great drummer, it is such hard work to make music. Chris gives ya the freedom to do what ya want to do...and not feel tied down. That's what it's all about."

-Fran Rifugiato, The Satin Hearts / Strange Brew (Pittsburgh) / The Fingers.

"Very professional, and willing to work around any schedule and needs of the client. Definitely worth it!"

-Ben Flint, Ben Flint Band, Steeltown Religion, & Alison Tuesday Band.

"Chris is a go-to guy on the skins when a drummer flakes (happens all the time), so I worked with him off & on over the years"

-Radiation Rick, The Woodpile

"I believe we have one of the greatest drummers in our band but he occasionally has a life event that might take precedence. Last Saturday was one of those and this gig is a great time & event so we got Doug to recommend someone to stand in. Making music is a dance between partners. It's where the heart, sound, and soul of performance comes together as a force to move emotions. The drummer gets to be the heart of it all, and we could not have asked for a better fit for our temporary heart transplant last Saturday at the Thomas Presbyterian Car Show. Our drummer Doug Blair is a force of nature and normally fills that heart. It was an honor and privilege to meet and perform with his friend Chris Belin, also a great drummer and a teacher extraordinaire. If you're looking for a stand-in drummer who will mesh naturally with your band, or a teacher who helps drummers be great, I strongly endorse one of my new friends Chris Belin.

Thanks Chris! And thanks Doug for introducing us to him."

-Bob Lee, The Blues Devils.
